Why do we use bag collections?
Unused clothes from charity bag collections can provide a steady income to support our work. Continuing to provide support is our primary concern.
How can I be sure you will collect the bag?
Our partner delivers the empty bag to you with a collection time clearly marked. If you put out your bag as close to this time as possible, you can be confident we will get it.
Who will benefit from my donation?
CWCNE works in the north east of England so those benefitting will be cancer patients and their families in this part of the UK.
What if I don't want to give?
If for any reason you feel this is not a charity to which you want to donate, then please ignore the bag and simply dispose of it. Nobody will knock on your door or otherwise bother you further.
Who delivers the empty bags and collects the full ones?
We work with Unicare to deliver charity bags all over the country. We are aware of issues like the theft of genuine bags and bogus collections, but because bag collections provide us with a steady income we are keen for them to continue.
How much does the charity get from its collections?
Since 2010 Unicare have donated £200,00 to us for charitable purposes, the average monthly donation is £5000.
What use have you made of the money?
We have been able to set up new services such as the one for teenagers and children in the Teenage and Children’s Cancer Unit at the RVI. We have increased our counselling activities with a telephone service so that people from all over the country can benefit. We have also been able to fund a new website so that our donors can keep up to date with what we are doing.
Where do you collect?
We collect in the north and north east of England and in Scotland.
What services do you provide in areas other than the north east?
We are a regional charity so most of our services are for the cancer community in the north east of England. However, we do offer telephone support and counselling as well as information and signposting to all geographical regions.
