Counselling is often called talking therapy. It can be one-to-one, in a group, even over the phone or by email and many different techniques can be used.
Individual or group counselling provided by Coping with Cancer North East is a free service offered to cancer patients and their families, carers and friends. You will be give the time and space to express your feelings and emotions as well as being encouraged to look at a range of coping strategies.
The service is supervised according to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) codes of practice. There is more information as well a Find a Therapist feature on the BACP website.
