Auricular Acupuncture
History
Auricular Acupuncture originated in China over 5000 years ago however, it was in 1950s France when modern auricular acupuncture was researched and developed.
The treatment is centered around the idea that the ear is a reflection of the whole body. Through focusing on one part of the body, the ear, various systems in your body are stimulated to trigger a healing response.

How the treatment works
Auricular Acupuncture focuses only on the ears. The treatment involves placing tiny needles onto seven points of each ear for 40 minutes, once a week for 6 weeks.
The needles stimulate the nerves and chemicals in the body. The stimulation then causes the body to release endorphins which act as natural painkillers. An example of this is Serotonin, which is a natural pain-relieving chemical that can promote feelings of wellbeing and can help to relieve symptoms caused by cancer treatment.
How it can help
There are many benefits of auricular acupuncture to those who are undergoing cancer treatments as it can relieve numerous symptoms such as:
Neuropathy
- Hot flushes
- Nausea
- Insomnia
