Reflexology

History

Reflexology originates from traditional Chinese medicine. Reflexology centres on the theory that energy flows through the body, and this energy can become disturbed.

The feet are the focus of this treatment. Through a focus on ancient techniques pressure points are massaged to restore and balance the flow of energy throughout the whole body. The feet act like mirrors of the body with different points on the feet corresponding to different areas on the body, such as organs and glands. In reflexology our general health and well being is reflected in the condition of our feet.

How it works

During the treatment gentle pressure is applied to the feet or hands to create a state of relaxation and help the body’s healing process. The aim is to unblock an energy pathway that is blocked. Unblocking energy pathways allows the energy to flow freely again which aims to restore balance to the body.

The treatment can be done lying down or sat in a chair.
